Morning Inspiration - Life is what you make it. From YOLO To Discipline: How Daily Decisions Shape Your Future
What if the shape of your life is not hidden in fate, but folded into your daily decisions? We explore why dreaming without doing burns time, how the YOLO mindset can quietly tax your future, and what it takes to replace wishful thinking with disciplined action. From career pivots to relationships to creative first moves, we share a blunt but hopeful framework: you are born looking like your parents, but you die looking like your decisions.
We unpack the difference between passive hope and active faith. Faith, in this conversation, is not waiting for perfect conditions; it is taking the first step when certainty is out of reach. That looks like saving for tools and training when no one is watching, studying yourself to learn what actually fits, and forgiving past mistakes so you can carry less weight forward. We get practical about investing in yourself before you try to save everyone else, and we talk about the quiet grind that compounds: small reps, consistent calendars, and choices that align with the future you want.
Words matter. Your tongue can cut down your potential or carve a way through fear. We talk about using language to direct attention and action—naming clear targets, refusing negative self-talk, and speaking life with specific commitments. Pair that with risk: start the YouTube channel, build the small business, pitch for the job, learn the dance. Originals are not waiting for a sign; they are moving with intention and adjusting as they go. If you’re tired of hoping and ready to build, this conversation hands you a simple charge: push one step further than your doubt, today.
If this resonates, follow the show, share it with someone who needs a nudge, and leave a review to help others find it. Tell us: what hard step will you take before the day ends?
Good morning. And this is Coolin's Morning Inspirations. I'm your host Michael Tarrell. And this morning I wanted to talk to you guys about I meant um clean cut to be honest. Um your life is what you make it, right? And sometimes this could be maybe touchy. I don't think so, right? Um a lot of times I hear a lot of people have stories or or what they want to do. A lot of people are dreamers, right? And they just dream about all the things that they want to do, have all the good intentions of doing, but never do. Um when it comes down to you know the type of education that they want to go get, you know, um a business that they want to pursue, um getting in or getting out of a relationship that could be good or bad for them, you know, like your decisions on your life hands out the outcome of your life. You can go easy now and work hard later, right? Or vice versa, you can work hard at something now, you know, and reap the benefit off of it later. A lot of times that we get caught up in the uh what is that you only live once, uh little slogan that people always want to love, you know, always wanna get out there and say, like, man, YOLO, you know, YOLO. But if you live like that and you, you know, mess off all your money, never invest into nothing, never put time into nothing, letting everything fly by, that's when you end up old, broke. Your kids don't have no discipline, so they are suffering because they, you know, they didn't really get parenting. You never went after that job, or you had the same job for years, you haven't changed, you ain't done nothing. You know, don't blame it on everybody else and everything else. Don't blame it on every Tom, Dick, and Harry, Michelle, Bonnie, and Becky. Like, what you make out of your life is the decisions day by day by day by day, right? It's something that I heard a long time ago that I thought was pretty funny, and it was they said that you're born looking like your parents, but you die looking like your decisions, right? And so, yeah, yeah, you die looking like your decisions. So, if your decisions was, I want to get up every day, work out, work on uh bettering myself, get my business off the ground, always learning how to better myself or get myself into a uh a different place in life. Yeah. Then you also have the ones that I woke up and I drunk every day and I sat on my behind, I didn't do nothing, I didn't try, and um I was hoping and hoping and hoping and wishing and wishing and wishing that something just came to me, right? I don't think that there's nothing in this world to where it's like do nothing and we will bless you. It doesn't matter if you're religious, not religious, if you're just you know hoping the better man. I don't know. I don't know. This society today sometimes baffles me because I don't know where the concept comes to where you know somebody's supposed to dictate greatness for your life. I don't know, like I've been through hell and back. But I I know that if you put hard work, time, and effort into things, it pans out to be what you want it to be. But literally, literally, sometimes it takes disappearance of the world. First, learning yourself, learning what you're good at, learning what you like, what you can tolerate, what are your good, your bad, your uglies. Then after that, you have to learn how to forgive all the mistakes that you made, and then push. Like not always like running after, like sometimes it takes like saving every penny, right? To get the things that you need to invest in your life or invest in yourself. Before you're out here investing in everybody else, invest in yourself, get yourself together. If you don't have yourself together, if you don't love yourself, how do you expect somebody else to do it? But manifest yourself. You don't need somebody inside of a church to manifest greatness for your life. Sometimes it's just having a conversation with whoever you have as your most high, and if you have nobody at your most high, hopefully you you can you know come to that, you know, within self. Manifest greatness in your own life. I remember when I was down in the dumps, you know, and I used to manifest greatness for my life, and what makes me go harder is that I actually see it happening, like I actually see everything that I'm axing for. I'm axing for it, like I want this, this, this, this, and this, and it's like just blindly go and don't lose faith, you know. If if you were supposed to walk on water for a mile, and you couldn't lose faith once, or you would drown. Could you take that first step, right? Faith is a big thing. Taking a leap of faith, taking a faith on a job, taking a faith on a relationship, taking a faith on parenting, parenthood, you know, taking a jump out there to invent something, to be original, to do a first dance that nobody ever seen before, to do a TikTok, to do a YouTube, to whatever. It's the ones that that that takes the risk that ends up great. All the ones that follow the lines and try to be the bare minimum and hope. Hey, shout out Dick Gregory, man. Fuck hope, right? Excuse my language on my morning inspirations, man. Get out there and do that shit yourself, man. You manifest your own greatness. Stop talking negative, stop talking negative on yourself, stop bringing the negative energy into your life. Only manifest greatness to your life, only manifest greatness into your life, only manifest greatness into your life, only manifest greatness. Like my grandmother taught me the strongest thing is your mouth, your tongue, right? Tongue is your deepest sword. You can speak things into existence. I spoke a lot of things good and bad. A lot of things good and bad, man. I know it, I've seen it, trust me. So I'm gonna end this off with man, just you know, um go hard at life. Man, don't be lazy and don't don't give up. There's a lot of points where I felt like I should have gave up, but just because I pushed a little bit harder, I felt like I was blessed. And I'm just pushing the same thing off onto you guys. I'm out.
