Success looks glamorous from the outside, but the part nobody posts is the struggle: the early alarms, the extra reps, the late-night studying, and the decisions to stay focused when distraction feels easier. We dig into a blunt truth that applies to fitness, career growth, learning new skills, credit repair, sports, and relationships: nothing “just happens,” and you do not wake up successful. You build it, one disciplined day at a time, with a plan that matches what you say you want.

We also get honest about the mindset side of self-improvement. The hardest part usually is not your body or your schedule, it is the mental resistance that shows up as procrastination, excuses, and trying to live two different lives at once. If you want more than mediocrity, you need clarity, consistency, and the willingness to feel uncomfortable on purpose. That includes making trade-offs, cutting back on “fun” for a season, and showing up long enough for effort to turn into momentum.

The big takeaway is simple: handle the struggle early and life gets easier later because your skills, habits, and confidence compound. Wait too long and you risk paying that price when you have less time, less energy, or fewer options. If you’re ready for a quick, motivating reset on focus, discipline, and real-world goal setting, press play now. If this hits home, subscribe, share with a friend who needs it, and leave a review with the goal you’re committing to next.

Welcome And The Core Message

SPEAKER_00

Good morning and welcome to Coolin's Morning Inspirations. I'm your host, Michael Tarrell, and this morning I wanted to talk to you guys about staying focused at the fact that you have to go through struggle a lot of times to achieve greatness.

Why Struggle Comes Before Greatness

SPEAKER_00

A lot of people had to go through a struggle to get to greatness. You have to figure out what path you have to go on, and then once you figure that path out, then from that point, you have to go through whatever the struggle is to accomplish that goal. Whether it be school, trade, if you want to try to get into the NBA, practice every day, all day, the NFL to learn how to code, to get your credit back straight, to move up in your job, whatever the case may be. You have to go through something to get to where you want to be. Nothing magically just happens. You don't just wake up and become successful. You're in the gym every day, all day to become successful. You're studying all night long to become successful, you're putting in extra and late hours to become successful, and you're focused and well planned, calculated it. Because if you're not, then you're working hard or you're struggling or you're going through it

You Cannot Live Two Lives

SPEAKER_00

for nothing. If you're if if you're thinking that you can live two lives when it comes down to this and be successful, you are sadly mistaken unless your life is based off of entertainment. But even the ones that go through the entertainment realm, it's more so, what have you done for me lately? Right? If you don't keep producing, you will fall off. No one will care about you. You will be just as broke as you started. But everybody had to go through something to get to where they need to be. Every boxer had to go through it, every every doctor, lawyer, everybody. But if you're okay with mediocracy, then fine. If you're okay with it, then hey. But for the ones that want more, you have to stay focused and you have to go through those 30 days and those 30 nights of a journey of self. Now, 30 days, 30 nights is just the saying, but ain't no telling how long that path is gonna be. If that path needs to be longer, then that path will have to be longer.

Pick A Path And Make A Plan

SPEAKER_00

But excuse me, guy, if that path needs to be longer, then that path is longer, it could be shorter, but the thing is, most of us, first off, don't know what we wanna do. Most of us don't know what we wanna do, and so that's part one of the failure. How can you make anything happen with no plan? You just think that it's just gonna you're gonna wake up one day and it just happened, or you're one of the people that say, I got time. Time is not guaranteed to nobody, to nobody, time's not guaranteed. So if you wanna have you know something or pay off something or do this, it takes being focused and struggling through it. You wanna lose weight?

unknown

Come on, man.

SPEAKER_00

Come on, man. You wanna lose weight? It's easy, it's not, but it is. The thing is, a lot of us know what we need to do, but we don't want to do it because the struggle's too hard. Get big. The struggle's not hard. The struggle is a mental thing. You don't have to even lift, you don't even have to lift it. It's the mental that hurts the most. You ain't yeah, I I can't you can't what you can't study, you can't go to the gym, you can't go to the swimming pool and swim longer if you want to be a you know a swimmer. You know what I'm saying? Like, I

The Struggle Is Mostly Mental

SPEAKER_00

know for me, a lot of times the things that I wanted to learn or do better at, man, I got on YouTube and I started to study it, and then I kept on trying to do it and tried to get at it, but you know, everybody's not me, I know that. But I learned a lot along the way because I wanted to get out there and do better, and I knew that in some cases I had to put all my fun activities aside. So, yes, did I put up almost a decade of grinding hard? Yes, I did, but my life gets easier and easier now. It's like the like the starting off, if you start off, you know, with the coming up, it's hard once you get to the top, but it's easy when you get to go down the hill, you know. And I get that, you know, you gotta go up that mud, but if you

Grind Now So Life Gets Easier

SPEAKER_00

if you start up, go down, and then gotta go, you know, I don't know how that shit goes, really, be honest with you. But how I'm trying to make it out to be is if you go ahead and knock out the struggle, the rest of the time you get to enjoy life. But if you wait till you have to struggle when you're not able anymore, well, that's a whole different subject. So stay focused. You have to go through the struggle to get to the success that you have. If it's relationships, sometimes you gotta struggle to learn that person all the way. It's not that easy, and sometimes, you know, it's just as easy as Sunday morning. So stay focused, stay focused.
